IWD at Northern Sydney Institute
Crows Nest College conducted a Women and Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management luncheon with three industry speakers.
North Sydney College Association had a female performer in the canteen at lunch time.
Hornsby College had a CEEW and WOW students and staff morning tea.
Epping had a free band and lunch provided by the Ryde College Association.
The Institute supported the FITT IWD Luncheon at Parliament House 4 IT and sponsored four students to attend.
Hornsby College presented ‘Hornsby Women in the Workplace”, a Graphic Design and the Arts lunch time talk with industry speakers
Meadowbank College had tarot card reading and a female singer provided by the College Association.
Crows Nest College had tarot card reading provided by the College Association.
Northern Beaches College presented a female performer and had BBQ provided by the College Association.
Hornsby College Association provided a Morning Tea with free give-aways.
Northern Beaches College had a luncheon at Pittwater Restaurant with guest speaker Ronni Kahn, Founding Director of OzHarvest.
Northern Beaches College also had a Women and IT luncheon with guest speaker Ingrid Webber, CXC Managing Director where students and staff contributed to a shared lunch.
Hornsby, Meadowbank and Northern Beaches libraries had displays and information available for women students and staff.
South Western Sydney Institute IWD Celebrations
Bankstown College held a BBQ with entertainment in collaboration with the Student Association. The event was attended by over 200 students and staff. Bankstown Women’s Strategy was also represented at the Muslim Women’s Association celebration and a community celebration at Wran Leisure Centre in Villawood.
Miller College held a BBQ with entertainment and raised funds for breast cancer research.
Granville College held ‘ Women in TAFE’ workshops with guest speakers including a former WOW student now enrolled at UTS and current students enrolled in Diploma courses.
Lidcombe College held a ‘Networking Workshop’ and luncheon with over 100 student participants.This is a photo of Outreach Coordinator, Kaye Morris & IMEC, Jane Njomo at the workshop.
Macquarie Fields College held a BBQ in collaboration with the Student Association and invited the Ethnic Community Liaison Officer from Macquarie Fields Police to give a presentation to 70 students. The WSO from Macquarie Fields also conducted a survey to determine pertinent issues for women students at the college.
Campbelltown College held a ‘Health and Life Expo’ in collaboration with the Sport and Recreation Section from Macquarie Fields College and the Campbelltown College Student Association. Programs and advice to assist women with health issues were offered including self defence classes, blood pressure testing, dietary advice and yoga displays. Over 300 students and teachers attended the event.
Liverpool College held a morning tea including a Latin dance demonstration, nail art and free massage.
Wetherill Park held a morning tea and invited the Senior Policy Officer from the Department of Community Services to speak about violence against women.

IWD at Illawarra Institute
Wollongong Campus hosted a ‘tour of TAFE’ for women. The morning session was held on Wednesday 7th March and started with a welcome and the telling of her progress into TAFE and employment by a former student.The participants were then divided into small groups and taken on guided tours of the campus visiting sections where they were met by a teacher who gave a brief talk on what courses were available and a quick look at the facilities.
The final session was back in the Auditorium where Counselling, Course Information, Recognition of Prior Learning Coordinator and Centrelink also gave a brief description of their areas. Morning tea and networking closed the event.

IWD 2007
We had more information come in about events across TAFE NSW.
The WOW students from Outreach at Mt. Druitt TAFE hosted a very successful morning tea to celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday March 8, 2007. Students made posters and ribbons with the traditional suffrage colours of purple, white and green and organised the morning. Women staff and students attended to get information on IWD and joined in a cuppa and a scone.
